September 1st, 2000 I arrived in Whitehorse, Yukon to start what became a long-term love affair with Canada's North. I am grateful for all the opportunities that were available to me and this website reflect so much of my time in the Far North.

Winter 2016 we lost five family members and made the decision to move South. As luck would have it, my husband was also considering a career move to greater responsibilities and was successful in becoming a Dean for a university in metro Vancouver.

So, August 2016 we relocated to North Vancouver and have been activate members of his home community, my new community, ever since.

I am a wife to a busy academic and mother to an adorable young son.  Many people, especially fellow academic women, ask me how I balance it all.  Some days I'm not sure, but I know that I have greatly benefited from the advice from the following authors.  Enjoy reading!

Connelly, R., & Ghodsee, K. (2011).  Professor mommy:  Finding work-family balance in academica.  Rowman & Littlefield Publishers.
